AFJROTC NEWS LETTER ARTICLE

The Paint Valley Air Force Junior ROTC has had several great events we participated in so far this school year and had a lot of fun!
On September 18th we were asked to perform an honorary POW/MIA ceremony at the VA Medical center in Chillicothe and also performed an armed drill exhibition demo by our drill team. It was a great experience for our cadets and we are honored to have performed this dignified and solemn ceremony for the former POWs that were present and the veteran community and general public that were there. We received a thank you letter from the Director of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center.

We have held three car washes as fundraisers on weekends which are always fun. We are planning on having more fundraisers throughout the year including the very popular spirit/dog tag sale which we have done in previous years.

Friday night October, 16th we were honored in presenting the Arch of Swords ceremony for the Paint Valley fall sports senior class of athletes and their parents. Bright and early the next morning 14 cadets performed the Arch of Swords ceremony for the Fall Festival of Leaves Prince and Princesses pageant, commanded by Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Dillon Ellsworth. On Sunday, 22 cadets marched in the Fall Festival of Leaves parade. The color guard was commanded by Cadet Major Travis Draise and the marching flight was commanded by Cadet Senior Airman Seth Raypole.

We plan on marching in the VA veteran’s parade at the VA Medical center on the 7th of November.

On November 10th we are holding our annual free veterans breakfast from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the PVHS cafeteria. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee, and milk. If you are a veteran or know anyone who is a veteran in the local area, please join us for some good breakfast and fun!
